Not long after posting my last entery, did most of my girls come into season. So here is my litter update.
On the 19th of May we took a trip out to Laura's place (Koyote Kennels) and dropped off Winnie. We weren't expecting her to fall into season for another 2-3months, so we figured a summer litter would be nicer to have then a winter litter. We have pair Winne up with Tatsu, a Black & Tan with awesome lines. Tatsu is a bit smaller, but that's what I like. I am hoping a small female shows up from this breeding as we plan on keeping one back. This pup will be a second generation Barrett Shiba. I am very excited.
The same day we dropped Winnie off, we picked up Grizz, owned by Jodi of Bracko Kennels. Our plans were to keep Grizz with us until Tina come into season. Low and behold, when we arrived back home that night, Tina surprized us all. What are the odds!! We are hoping a breeding will occur with these two in the next week. I am very exited for this litter as well. Grizz is a beautiful sesame and we hope to have some sesame pups. If a second female is born, we will keep her back as well. To the right is a picture of Tina and Grizz. Grizz is a busy body, so it was a little hard keeping him still enough to take a shot!
So far we now have four planned breeding all due about 1.5 weeks apart from each other. If that doesn't sound like a hand full ... Molly, who only has a heat once a year, decided that she didn't want to feel left out. We missed out last year on her breeding, so this was a must this year. We plan to pair her up with Shubert. So that makes 5 summer litters (if all take). I am thankful that my mom, who has been raising Scotties and Schnauzer for several years, is going to help me out on this one. With having no litter on the way this summer, she is going to help whelp and house two of my Shiba moms/litters.
